Danielle Harlan is the Chief of Operations at the Carnegie Foundation, providing oversight to the Core Operations team and serving as the bridge between this and other teams within the Foundation. Previously, she served as Associate to the President for Organizational Development, working to strengthen goal setting, task execution and organizational design for implementation of the Foundation’s complex program of work.
Prior to joining Carnegie, Harlan worked with Teach For America as a special education teacher and as part of the Admissions and Teacher Preparation teams. She also worked with the Strategic Data Project at Harvard University and was a national advisory board member for the Haas Center for Public Service. She also taught in Brazil, China, Costa Rica and South Africa and is an academic coach with Foster Care to Success.
Harlan has a B.A. in government and politics and a B.S. in business from the University of Maryland. She earned both a M.A. in education and a Ph.D. in political science from Stanford University, where she was a Jacob K. Javits Graduate Fellow and the recipient of Stanford’s Centennial Teaching Award for excellence in instruction.- Address
