Gay Clyburn is associate vice president, public affairs and is responsible for external relations, marketing and communications, publishing, electronic communications and special events. She has been with the Foundation since 1999. She came to the Foundation from the American Association of State Colleges and Universities where she directed communications and developed the association's public affairs, and integrated interactive communications and diversity programs. She has a background in higher education communications at both the national and campus levels and has written and spoken on media training, strategic planning, crisis communications and public higher education issues. Clyburn has a master of liberal arts degree from Stanford University and a B.A. in journalism from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
