On Sept. 17 and 18th, Carnegie continued its role as a convener, supported by a grant from the MacArthur Foundation, to bring together onsite and virtually (via videoconferencing technology) researchers and practitioners from across the country to begin discussions on using tools to gather and disseminate information on student learning and outcomes generated by interactive learning environments. Practitioners from places like the Exploratorium in San Francisco and Global Kids in New York were able to communicate with researchers from institutions like Stanford, University of Wisconsin and Florida State to talk about such things as how you look at visualized representations created by students and determine how student discourse changes over time, or how when you’re using innovative uses of digital media with students you can provide a digital analysis that will show impact. Blog posts will soon be available on MacArthur’s Spotlight blog, where you can also find video interviews and posts from previous Carnegie MacArthur convenings.
