Associate, Learning Resources

The Associate, Learning Resources position is part of the Networked Improvement Science team and will work to translate knowledge into effective learning experiences; develop and maintain curriculum and content that will be used to build the capacity of Carnegie’s partners, as well as educators in the field who are interested in Improvement Science and Networked Improvement Communities. This includes planning and building processes and infrastructure to manage and develop curriculum, including instructional strategies, the development of visual materials, the refinement of existing materials and resources, and recommending media and technology delivery methods, where appropriate.

 Key Responsibilities
  • Create and curate all forms of teaching and learning resources and experiences for workshops, trainings, and virtual learning experiences focused on applying networked improvement science methods.
  • Develop and evaluate training curriculum and activities, including branding, editing, quality control, and production of the curricula.
  • Ensure that the appropriate research knowledge base and content expertise is accessible to network members; support the capture, organization, and use of practical knowledge being generated in Networked Improvement Communities (NICs).
  • Design and develop knowledge products that advance the field’s knowledge about improvement science carried out in networks.
  • Lead and coordinate the review/assessment of current curricular materials and learning resources to ensure that course/program is meeting intended learning objectives and requirements, including effectiveness of course content, materials, teaching activities, and technologies.
  • Research, consult, and collaborate with NIS Team and program staff in the design and development of new training materials; utilize evaluations and related data to assess, edit, and improve curricula on a regular basis.
  • Prepare instructional material for dissemination; plan the necessary time, resources, and materials to support accomplishments of training goals.
  • Research and advise on technology platforms and innovations; production/design practices; and evaluate the potential value to the program.
  • Build strong relationships with team members to set and manage expectations, create project plans, and regularly communicate project updates and status. Establish and maintain project management protocols for materials development and production.
  • Develop and maintain a dynamic archiving system for existing curricula by surveying and assessing the existing curricula; recommending a process for organization; establishing standards, specifications, priorities, goals, and objectives for the operation of the dynamic archive.
  • Other related duties, as assigned.
 Education and Experience Requirements
  • An advanced degree, preferably in the social sciences, education, or a relevant field
  • Three or more years’ experience developing curricula, learning resources, coaching, and teaching/training in education or other professional settings
  • Knowledge and understanding of adult learning principles and of a wide range of training methods, techniques, and formats including web-based training and professional development
  • Knowledge of educational systems and their norms, structures, and operational routines
  • Experience working effectively in a dynamic, team-based, and highly collaborative organization is desirable

  • Flexibility and comfort working in an environment where processes and timelines are fast paced, evolving, and changeable
  • Ability to move through ambiguity, taking action in order to make progress and learn, and making improvements based on new information
