Madeleine Pierson joined the Foundation in 2017 as a post-baccalaureate fellow supporting external offerings and partnerships. Prior to joining Carnegie, she served as a program coordinator with Urban Compass, a non-profit providing after school tutoring and enrichment programming for LAUSD students in Watts. Maddie received her bachelor's in American studies from Scripps College in Claremont, California. As a Mellon Foundation Research Fellow, she wrote her college thesis on the Neighborhood Union, a community organization founded in post-Reconstruction Atlanta. While in college, she also worked in Trenton and Appalachia for a non-profit providing social justice education programs on race, privilege, and class for middle and high school students.
