System Leader Toolkit: Diagnostic Tool for Reflection

The Diagnostic Tool for Reflection in this toolkit is a self-assessment designed to help K-12 system-level leaders reflect on their development as leaders of systemwide transformation toward continuous improvement. This toolkit is the first of four companion resources to the publication Transforming Educational Systems Toward Continuous Improvement: A Reflection Guide for K-12 Executive Leaders.

The Diagnostic Reflection Tool in this toolkit provides system-level leaders with the opportunity to reflect on their strengths and areas for growth in the key dispositions and core practices of leading a system organized for continuous improvement, and to evaluate the extent to which they have acted on system levers in their quest to drive continuous improvement across their organization. Those dispositions, practices, and system levers are detailed in the  publication Transforming Educational Systems Toward Continuous Improvement: A Reflection Guide for K-12 Executive Leaders.

The diagnostic survey tool in this System Leader Toolkit includes groups of statements that correlate to the key dispositions, core practices and system levers described in the reflection guide.  Through self-assessing where they stand on each of the statements, the tool enables a leader to see a holistic view of their development as well as their system’s capacity for continuous improvement.

It is strongly recommended that you review the full reflection guide before accessing this Toolkit. By first becoming familiar with the elements of leadership described in the guide, you will be able to respond more accurately as you take the self-assessment.

To use this System Leader Toolkit:
