Higher Education and the Development of Moral and Civic Responsibility

The project on Higher Education and the Development of Moral and Civic Responsibility examined how colleges and universities in the United States prepared their students for morally and civically responsible lives, and then sought to strengthen these efforts. The study’s findings were published in Educating Citizens: Preparing America’s Undergraduates for Lives of Moral and Civic Responsibility (Jossey-Bass, February 2003).

Please visit the Political Engagement Project, which builds on the work of the MCR Project by addressing two aspects of civic education that require further attention: fostering greater political engagement and participation, and creating effective ways to assess civic education efforts.
