Thomas Carey: Transforming Learning Together

Thomas Carey is Senior Partner for Network Growth at the Carnegie Foundation and a Visiting Senior Scholar at San Diego State University, where he heads a program for faculty knowledge exchange and collaboration in California community colleges, funded by the Hewlett Foundation. In Canada—where he has been a faculty member, innovation leader and university executive—he leads a related initiative for the Higher Education Quality Council of Ontario. Tom visited Carnegie in February 2011 for a brown bag talk with staff. He presented on his work with faculty Knowledge Exchange Networks and the NSDL Developmental Mathematics Collection, where regional faculty teams are sharing exemplary practices, tools and resources intended to 'raise the bar' for local teaching practices and provide a network infrastructure to sustain national initiatives.
