In 2023 the Carnegie Foundation gathered stories and input from people who identified as using continuous improvement and improvement science in their work to pursue ambitious aims in education. This report and related materials capture the reflections, experiences, values, and aspirations of those who responded, creating a picture of the field as the community marked 10 years of coming together for the Carnegie Summit on Improvement in Education.
While the problems people were working on varied, common areas of focus for improvement were evident. People also identified supports that would help to strengthen and grow improvement in education going forward. What emerged was a clear identity of what it means to be an improver — the dispositions, knowledge and skills — paired with deep conviction that improvement as a method works.
