This video discusses a meeting protocol that improvement team facilitators and coaches can use to help their teams prioritize change ideas and communicate Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA) testing goals with others.

The sample protocol unpacked in this video can help teams effectively select and scope potential change ideas to test in their context.

There are several considerations to take into account when selecting change ideas, and the presenter in this video highlights a prioritization tool (benefit vs. effort matrix) that teams can use to determine which change idea(s) to test in initial PDSA cycles. Additionally, the presenter uses a case-based example to illustrate how a change idea planning template can help improvers articulate more details about a change idea and plan next steps for testing. This template can also be useful for sharing a team’s plans with a larger network/organization or other stakeholders.

Facilitators are encouraged to adapt the protocol in this video based on the needs of their team and local context.
