School Reform: Lessons from England
Publisher:
San Francisco: Jossey-Bass
Abstract:
This wide-ranging examination of school reform efforts in England draws upon meetings with teachers, head teachers (principals), parents and students, and interviews with local education authorities, union and association heads. Stearns’ analysis covers many matters that have dominated the school reform debate on this side of the Atlantic, including standards and assessment, school autonomy, and school choice. The report has particular relevance to the argument for new school governance structures in the United States. 1996. A special report.
