Evaluating Aim Statements Activity

This activity introduces the elements of a well-specified, actionable aim statement and provides an opportunity for groups to reflect on the role of aims in a theory of improvement. The instructor resource includes guidance for facilitating the activity.

During this activity groups will practice identifying the components of a well-crafted aim statement (specifying what will be improved, by when, by how much, and for whom) and consider how the sample aims provided might be improved. Groups will also discuss the role of aim statements in motivating collective action. This activity can be used after an introduction to aim statements or to encourage a group to formulate their own impressions about the components of a good aim statement prior to direct instruction.

This resource packet includes a description of the activity, facilitator guidance, and participant materials.
